Reference examples for first-hop redundancy with HSRP and VRRP on Cisco IOS/IOS XE.

Modernised on 27 September 2026. The old examples contained a shared plaintext authentication string and dated interface syntax.
Do not copy plaintext shared authentication
The original page used the password cisco in VRRP and HSRP examples. If authentication is required, use the mechanism supported by the exact platform/release and an organisation-approved secret.
